Tuscan terracotta is produced from selected Impruneta clay, fired at temperatures around 950–1000°C. The result is a dense, frost-resistant material with characteristic warm tones — from honey yellow to deep red — and a unique surface texture rich in tonal variations.
Each tile carries small imperfections that make it unique. The clay's high iron and limestone content gives the fired tiles their exceptional resistance to thermal excursions and time.
Read the full in-depth article →Raw (untreated) terracotta is left natural after firing, with maximum porosity and a rustic appearance. It absorbs liquids and stains easily and requires impregnation before use.
Antiqued terracotta receives surface treatments to simulate aged patinas, with chromatic shading and slight surface irregularities created artificially.
Treated terracotta has been impregnated with linseed oil, waxes or specific products that seal the pores and protect from stains, ready to use after installation.
Yes, Tuscan terracotta is excellent outdoors thanks to the high firing temperatures that ensure full frost resistance. It is widely used for terraces, courtyards, garden paths, covered porches and external steps.
Outdoor installation requires non-slip finishes (where appropriate), frost-resistant adhesives and grouts, and adequate slope for water drainage.
Porcelain stoneware is fired at high temperatures (above 1200°C) and has very low porosity (≤0.5%) and exceptional resistance to wear, frost and stains.
Traditional ceramic is fired at lower temperatures and is more porous; it is mainly used for decorative wall coverings.
Klinker is a vitrified extruded ceramic, fired at around 1250°C, with extreme density and the best resistance to frost and chemical attack — ideal for outdoor and intensive use.
Porcelain stoneware in depth → Klinker in depth →Yes, terracotta has excellent thermal conductivity and a high thermal mass, making it one of the ideal materials for underfloor heating systems. The slightly slower heating is compensated by exceptional heat retention even after the system is turned off.
The screed must be perfectly cured (about 28 days) and have residual humidity below 2% before installation.
We recommend high-performance C2 cementitious adhesives, such as Mapei Keraflex Maxi S1, suitable for porous and large materials. For glazed terracotta, standard adhesives also work.
For outdoor installation we use S1 or S2 deformable adhesives that withstand thermal excursions. Always consult the technical sheet of the specific product.
For parquet and other wood-based materials, yes: a minimum of 48–72 hours in the destination room is recommended, with packs sealed and balanced to the room's humidity and temperature (about 18–22°C, RH 45–60%).
For ceramic, porcelain stoneware and terracotta, acclimatisation is not strictly required, but it is good practice to allow the boxes to stabilise on site for at least 24 hours.
A minimum of 4–5 cm of cured cement screed is recommended, increased to 6–8 cm in the presence of underfloor heating systems.
The screed must meet three fundamental requirements: be perfectly flat (tolerance ±2 mm in 2 m), be fully cured (typically about 28 days) and have residual humidity below 2% verified by hygrometer.
Untreated terracotta requires initial impregnation with linseed oil or specific protective products to seal the pores and prevent stain absorption. The treatment is repeatable every 5–10 years depending on use.
Daily cleaning is done with neutral detergents diluted in warm water. Avoid acidic, bleach-based or strongly alkaline products that may damage the protective film and dull the colour.
Parquet is cleaned with a barely damp microfibre cloth and specific neutral detergents for wood. Avoid water in abundance, steam mops and aggressive cleaning products.
Periodically (every 1–3 years for oiled parquet, less frequently for varnished), apply specific maintenance oils or waxes to renew the protection. Felt pads under furniture prevent scratches.
Yes, we have a complete selection of professional products:
You can find all products in our parquet and construction chemicals price lists.
Solid parquet is made from a single block of wood, can be sanded and varnished multiple times and lasts well over a century. Requires longer installation and curing times.
Multilayer (or prefinished) parquet has 3–5 wood layers with a noble surface already factory-treated. It is faster to install and dimensionally more stable, ideal with underfloor heating.
SPC is not real wood: it is a stone-plastic composite (limestone + polymers) with a photographic decoration that imitates wood. It is water-resistant, economical and quick to install, but lacks the warmth and feel of natural wood.
SPC flooring in depth →For products in our standard catalogue, delivery times typically range from 2 to 3 weeks from the order date, as products are sourced from manufacturers' warehouses (mainly in the Sassuolo and Impruneta district).
For special orders, custom finishes or limited series, times may be longer. We always recommend contacting us before ordering to confirm current availability.
Yes, we collaborate with experienced and qualified installers for the installation of all the materials we sell. The installation service is provided primarily in the Bologna metropolitan area.
For installations in other areas of Emilia-Romagna we evaluate case by case. The installation quote is calculated separately based on the type of material, surface, complexity of laying and any preparation work needed.
Yes, our showroom is located at Via Palazzetti 22/O in San Lazzaro di Savena (BO), a few minutes from the centre of Bologna and easily reachable from the A14 motorway.
