Klinker is a high-performance ceramic material developed in Northern Europe at the end of the 19th century, ideal for outdoor use and high-traffic areas.
Klinker is a vitrified ceramic obtained from special illitic clays, fired at very high temperatures (around 1250°C). The firing produces a partial glassification of the body that gives the material extraordinary technical properties: extreme density, near-zero water absorption, exceptional resistance to wear and frost.
The term "klinker" comes from the Dutch klinken, "to ring", referring to the metallic sound produced when two tiles are knocked together — a sound that betrays their extreme density and hardness.
Klinker is the natural choice for outdoor flooring: terraces, balconies, porches, garden paths, swimming pool surrounds, stair coverings. Its performance against frost and atmospheric agents is unmatched.
For commercial and public spaces — squares, pedestrian areas, industrial floors, warehouses, workshops — klinker offers durability measurable in decades.
Pressed klinker is widely used as a façade cladding in ventilated systems: aesthetically warm and industrial, technically reliable for centuries.
Klinker has a characteristic warm and earthy aesthetic, with colours ranging from straw yellow (Crema Dorato) to dark brown (Marrone Dorato), passing through ochre (Ocra Dorato), burnt sienna (Siena Dorato) and graphite grey (Grigio Dorato). The surface is naturally textured, with subtle tonal variations that give the floor character.
For external stairs, klinker offers structural steps, angular elements and skirtings in matching colour, designed to cope with thermal excursions and water ingress.
